Featured Driver of the Week: Karl Hehr

Age: 53.

Hometown: Cheektowaga.

Division: ROC Modifieds/ROC Modified Tour.

Lowdown: Hehr is a veteran of 25 years of racing, mostly at Lancaster National Speedway and Dragway. He is the brother of retired driver Nick Hehr. Karl and Nick at one time were members of the noted “Zoo Crew” racing team at Lancaster that also included Chris Gill, Charlie, Trey, Steve Hoddick and Paul Young. During his Sportsman racing day’s Karl drove for the well-known car owner, the late Fred Rounds.

Accomplishments: Karl earned Lancaster season point championships in the Super Stock/Late Models in 1991 and Sportsman titles in 1993 and 1995. He won the prestigious Lancaster U.S. Open event in the Super Stock/Late Models in 1989; the Sportsman in 1995 and the Modifieds in 2002. Karl is a past winner of both the Friends of Auto Racing (FOAR Score) Fan Club “Achievement on Asphalt” and “Rookie of The Year on Asphalt” awards.

Favorite Food: Cheeseburgers.

Favorite Music: Enjoys all forms of music with emphasis on rock.

Hobbies: Enjoys hunting and attending custom car shows.
