Conservancy should seize great opportunity for parks
Along with many Western New Yorkers, I’ve been following Kevin Gaughan’s efforts to gain the participation of our Olmsted Parks Conservancy in his plan to restore Frederick Law Olmsted’s beautiful Arboretum. How encouraging to read that the conservancy has a “cautious interest” in Gaughan’s proposal, which also includes two Jack Nicklaus-designed golf courses for all of us, and an education center for our young.
In light of Gaughan’s and Nicklaus’ offer to raise private funds to accomplish these good things for Buffalo, may I respectfully suggest that the conservancy add some oomph to its step to get this project done. Gaughan is obviously looking to build on the energy that’s finally propelling Buffalo forward. The conservancy should seize the opportunity!
