Cradle Beach, Inc., a year-round facility for disadvantaged and disabled young people, has named former Buffalo School Board member James M. Sampson as interim CEO while a national search is conducted for a new, permanent CEO.
Sampson’s selection follows the July 8 announcement of CEO Timothy Boling’s resignation after almost 10 years.
The camp’s 128th season for 800 youngsters between ages eight and 17 ends Saturday. The camp, which started in 1888, is located on 66 acres beside Lake Erie in Angola.
Sampson, 68, served for three years on the Buffalo School Board and was its president in 2015-16. In May he lost his bid for re-election. He also served as CEO of Gateway Longview, Inc. from 2004 until he retired in 2013.
