Bill Polian, the NFL Hall of Famer and general manger of the Bills’ Super Bowl teams, will sign autographs at Bases Loaded Sports (794 French Road, Cheektowaga) from 10 a.m. to noon on Sept. 17. HOCKEY: A new adult league for novice skaters, or players who have been off the ice for a while, will be starting Sept. 23 at Holiday Twin Rinks in Cheektowaga. This unique program is for adults over the age of 18 and is limited to beginner and novice skaters. The league will feature a total of 12 games, a team jersey, referees and a scorekeeper. To ensure the best possible experience games will be closely supervised by league commissioners. Full equipment is required to participate. LACROSSE: The Buffalo Lacrosse Academy is running a boys and girls Fall Ball Academy for grades 1-12 at the Nichols School starting Sept. 11 and running until Oct. 16. Go to buffalolacrosse.com. PICKLE BALL: Pickle ball is now available five days a week at the Town of Hamburg Senior Community Center. The new schedule includes Saturdays (12:30 to 3:30 p.m.) through Sept. 24; Sundays (6 p.m.) through Dec. 18; and Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (noon to 3 p.m.) through Dec. 30. The program for people 55 and over is located in the Donny Thiry Gymnasium, 4540 Southwestern Blvd. Teams will be formed depending on the number of participants per session. The cost is $3 per session/$15 per month to be paid on the day of participation. A waiver must be signed prior to play. SOCCER: Sahlen’s Sports Park has opened registration for its fall session, which begins on Tuesday, Sept. 6. TRACK AND FIELD: UB track and field announced the Garnham Throws Challenge, which honors coach Jim Garnham. It is an open competition in shot put, discus, hammer and javelin.
