Mermaids of the Mighty Niagara scheduled Saturday in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN -- The second annual Mermaids of the Mighty Niagara event is planned for 4 p.m. Saturday along Main Street, to benefit Care-N-Share Food Pantry.

Main Street will be closed from Lockport to Hinman streets from 4 to 8 p.m. for this free festival.

A celebration for children and adults, the event features mermaids, pirates, costume contests ($5 entry fee), music, food, and other activities, including a wet bounce house, pie-throwing, dunk tank and raffles.

The event raised $1,200 last year for the Ransomville food pantry, which serves the lower Niagara River region. It is presented by the Porter Youngstown Ransomville Business Association, in conjunction with the Bob Weaver Motorsports’ Lions Clubs Charity Dice Run.
