STANLEY, Dr. Daniel P.
STANLEY - Dr. Daniel P. Age 83 passed away peacefully on August 13, 2016. He was last residing in Atco, NJ and formerly of Vero Beach, FL, Medford, NJ, and Buffalo, NY. Dan was born, January 27, 1933, and raised in South Buffalo NY and graduated from Bishop Timon High School, where he was a member of the football and basketball teams. He worked for a short time at Bethlehem Steel Mill as an apprentice bricklayer as many of his family had done before him. He enlisted in the US Army 1952. He was a light infantry man, later sergeant of the 7th Division where he earned a combat infantry badge, two bronze battle stars and a Purple Heart when he was wounded on Pork Chop Hill in Korea, July 1953. Following his military service, he earned a Bachelor Degree at University of Buffalo, where he was the leading receiver on the Varsity football team. His Master's Degree was gained from the State University of NY at Buffalo and he went on to earn his Doctorate of Education from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. He taught and coached (football, basketball, and track) at Kenmore School System for nine years, and was a Western NY football and track official. He then moved his growing family to New Jersey in 1966, where he completed 26 years as a Professor and Department Chair of Health, Physical Education and Athletics at Glassboro/Rowan University. Upon his retirement in 1992, he and his wife of nearly 59 years, Jacquelyn Burns Stanley, enjoyed an active lifestyle in Vero Beach, FL. His wife Jacquelyn preceded him in death 11 months ago. He is survived by his four children, Colleen, Timothy, Kathleen and Maureen, as well as six grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. His beloved sister Rosanne Stanley Batt still resides in Western NY. Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing 6-8 PM Thursday at the BRADLEY FUNERAL HOME, Rt. 73 & Evesham Rd., Marlton, NJ. There will also be a viewing 9:45-10:45 AM Friday at St. Simon Stock Parish (Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church), 178 W. White Horse Pike, Berlin, NJ where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Friday. Interment Brigadier General Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
