Frewsburg teacher charged with child endangerment

JAMESTOWN – A Frewsburg Junior-Senior High School teacher has been arrested on three misdemeanor charges for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old student, according to State Police in Jamestown.

Steven D. Hess, 39, of Jamestown, a business education teacher, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, forcible touching and third-degree sexual abuse, according to the state police. He was to be arraigned Tuesday in Carroll Town Court.

State Police said school officials notified them in May of a possible inappropriate relationship between a teacher and a student. Investigators said that the alleged inappropriate contact took place on school grounds in April and May.

Hess, a 1994 graduate of the school, has been a faculty member since 2008 and has coached the boys’ and girls’ bowling teams.
