An Akron man has been charged with drunken driving after a rollover crash Monday in Newstead, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office said.
The crash happened on Martin Road just before 4:30 p.m. and when sheriff’s deputies arrived the driver had fled the scene. Deputies got a description of the man and searched the area. At 7:20 p.m., they took Dustin Gothard, 27, into custody on Cedar Street, the sheriff’s office said.
Gothard was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed operation and obstructing governmental administration, as well as nine vehicle and traffic infractions, including driving without insurance, operating an unregistered vehicle and having improper plates, the sheriff’s office said.
Gothard was remanded to the Erie County Holding Center and is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday.
