Mary Ann Dzimian, dedicated hospital volunteer

June 23, 1928 – Aug. 14, 2016

Mary Ann Dzimian, of Williamsville, a dedicated hospital volunteer, died Sunday in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Amherst. She was 88.

Born in Buffalo, the former Mary Ann Krohn was a 1945 graduate of Holy Angels Academy and earned a bachelor’s degree in business education from D’Youville College. She taught business classes briefly at Angelica High School.

After raising three daughters, Mrs. Dzimian returned to school and received a degree as a registered nurse from Erie Community College.

She was a longtime volunteer at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, with more than 5,000 hours of service, helping on the patient floors and at the reception desk. She also took part in activities at the Amherst Senior Center.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Raymond; two daughters, Kathryn Wissing and Julie Pytak; and 10 grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 200 St. Gregory Court at Maple Road, Amherst.
