Power restored to nearly 3,000 NYSEG customers in Hamburg, Orchard Park

The power was back on to nearly all of the customers in Hamburg and Orchard Park who suffered in the heat without it after a car crash on Lake Avenue brought down power lines early Friday afternoon.

Town of Hamburg Emergency Services posted on Facebook and Twitter that 95 percent of the nearly 3,000 customers had their power back on.

Commercial businesses on Lake Avenue near the accident site still had no power as of 4 p.m.

The power failure hit as hot, humid weather continued in Western New York.

Lake Avenue remained closed to traffic between Abbott Road and McKinley Parkway.
