Ben Reichert of Transit Valley Country Club was the top Western New York player in the 2016 New York State Men’s Amateur Golf Championship, which wound up Thursday at Mohawk Golf Course in Niskayuna. Reichert had a 70 and a 72 as the finalists played 36 holes to complete the event. His four-round total of 287 put him in a tie for eighth place.
Tyler McArdell of Timber Banks GC was the event. He finished 5-under par with a total of 279. That was two shot ahead of Jack Gianniny of the Country Club of Rochester.
Other local finishers were Desmond Stoll of the Lockport Town & CC, 290; Michael Boss of Niagara Falls CC, 295; Jonathan Chaddock of Springville CC, 297; and Andy Bernatovicz of River Oaks CC, 299.
