The University at Buffalo men’s basketball team will get an early start to its 2016-17 season when it takes a foreign tour to Canada and the Bahamas later this month.
The Bulls, two-time defending Mid-American Conference champions, will begin the trip on Aug. 20 in Guelph, Ont., with a 7 p.m. game against Guelph University. The next day the Bulls face York University in Guelph.
UB will play two games in the Bahamas, one at 7 p.m. Aug. 23 against the College of the Bahamas. The next is against a Bahamian club team, the Real Deal Shockers, at 9 p.m. Aug. 25.
Division I college basketball teams are allowed to take a foreign exhibition tour once every vour years.
“We are thrilled about this opportunity to go to Canada and the Bahamas right before school starts,” said head coach Nate Oats. “This will be a once in a lifetime event for our players, coaches and staff, and it will give our team an opportunity to bond both on and off the court. In the practices we’ve had thus far, the players have been working hard, getting better and really learning to play with each other.”
