Letter: Collins’ support for Trump is an insult to vets, families

Collins’ support for Trump is an insult to vets, families

The most ridiculous charge made by Congressman Chris Collins in his MSNBC interview is that Khizer Khan has “politicized” the tragedy of his son’s death while serving in the U.S. military. I guess that what Donald Trump has said about all Muslims is something other than politicizing; one set of rules for himself, another set of rules for the rest of us.

Collins should be fired from his position in Congress if this is how he demonstrates appreciation to veterans and their families. He’s nothing more than an apologist for one of the worst presidential candidates that we have ever seen.

I wouldn’t worry too much about Collins losing his job. I see a special role for him in the Trump campaign going forward, “’splainer-in-chief,” someone who will take the worst of Trump’s demagoguery and tell us that what Trump really means is happiness and joy for all the people who love him so much, never mind that moments ago he horribly insulted them.
