Four injured in crash that ended on golf course

DEWITTVILLE – Two adults and two children suffered minor injuries in a single-vehicle crash in which their car came to rest on the greens of the Point Chautauqua Golf Course about 3:30 p.m. Monday.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies reported that Grethen A. Kleinfelder, 31, of Mayville, the driver of the vehicle, apparently swerved to avoid striking another vehicle turning onto Route 430 in the 5600 block when her vehicle struck an embankment, became airborne and landed on the greens of the golf course.

Kleinfelder, her passenger Joseph D. Smith, 35, of Dewittville, and two other passengers whom Chautauqua County sheriff deputies did not identify were all taken to the Westfield Memorial Hospital for treatment of their minor injuries.

The fire departments of Mayville, Maple Springs and Dewittville all assisted sheriff’s deputies at the scene. An investigation of the accident is continuing.
