Canadian woman pleads guilty in Niagara Falls cocaine case

LOCKPORT – An Ajax, Ont., woman admitted in State Supreme Court Monday that she brought nearly an ounce of cocaine into the U.S. last year with the intention of selling it.

Ann Marie F. Stephenson, 36, was arrested by Border Patrol officers at the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls on June 20, 2015, for having 0.95 ounces of cocaine. She said she was heading for the Seneca Niagara Casino at the time.

Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr. could send Stephenson to state prison for as long as 2 1/2 years when she returns to court Oct. 17 for sentencing on her guilty plea to fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
