COHN - Sandra Better known in recent years as "Savta", passed away unexpectedly on July 30, 2016 in West Palm Beach Florida.
Sandy is survived by her children, Brian (Liz) Cohn, Tova (Yosef) Schuerholz, and Stacey Runfola; her six adoring grandchildren, Jonah and Naomi Cohn, Siona, Nava, Emuna, and Amichai Schuerholz; Her brother Martin (Joyce) Vanacour, as well as cousins, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Boris and Martha Vanacour; and her son-in-law, Rick Runfola. Sandy was born in Buffalo NY in April 1945 to Martha Vanacour. Her father Boris had died in WW II prior to her birth. She graduated from Buffalo State College with a Masters degree in education, and had a long career as a well respected and much loved elementary school teacher. She has positively impacted several generations of students, families, and co-workers. Most of her teaching career was spent at Kadimah School of Buffalo, and Meyer Academy in Florida. Savta/Sandy loved flowers especially lilacs, dogs, babies, shopping, mysteries, teaching, Fall and Spring in the North East, memories, friends, going out to lunch and so much more. What she loved more than anything in the world, by far, was her family. She absolutely cherished her children and her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Funeral services were held Thursday in West Palm Beach, FL. Donations in her memory can be made to Arthur I Meyer Jewish Academy, Kadimah Academy of Buffalo or Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
