Movers suspected of stealing jewelry from Wheatfield job

WHEATFIELD – Two movers hired by a former Plaza Drive resident are suspected of stealing several-thousand dollars worth of jewelry and other belongings, according to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the movers, who arrived at the address on July 30, had been left alone in a bedroom for a short time. Two days later, the victim noticed the loss, including two pairs of diamond earrings, a diamond pendant and three gold necklaces, including a 22-karat flat necklace valued in excess of $4,000, and a wallet containing a checkbook, two credit cards and driver’s license.

Investigators are checking the crime scene for fingerprints.
