Man charged with boating while intoxicated after crashing into Outer Harbor breakwall

Six people were rescued early Friday morning after their boat crashed into the breakwall in Buffalo’s Outer Harbor.

Five of the six occupants of a 17-foot Yamaha powerboat were transported to Erie County Medical Center with cuts and possible broken bones, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office said.

The boat’s operator, Cody Pudlewski, 21, of Angola, was charged with boating while intoxicated and released with appearance tickets, the sheriff’s office said.

The report of the crash was made to the Coast Guard at about 12:20 a.m.

Injuries to the people aboard included what appeared to be head injuries to the boat’s operator, the Coast Guard said.

The boat was towed to shore and removed from the water and is now in possession of State Park Police.

Pudlewski may face additional charges, the sheriff’s office said. The sixth person on the boat refused medical treatment.
