Shell casings found on Ernst Avenue sent for DNA testing

Two 40-millimeter shell casings found by police in the first block of Ernst Avenue early Thursday were sent to the Erie County forensics lab for DNA testing, according to a police report. Officers were dispatched to that street off of E. Ferry after a called was made about shots fired there about 1:30 a.m. Thursday. If the DNA testing produces a result, a suspect or suspects could face reckless endangerment-related charges.
