Marie J. Krnjaich, usher at Bisons games

Feb. 20, 1923 – July 29, 2016

Marie J. Krnjaich, a longtime usher and ticket taker at Buffalo Bisons baseball games, died Friday under hospice care in her West Seneca home. She was 93.

Born in Buffalo, the former Marie Magro was a 1941 graduate of Hutchinson Central High School and was known as the sweetest girl in her high school social club, which continued for 75 years.

At the suggestion of her son, Paul, who was working for the Bisons at the time, Mrs. Krnjaich began as an usher and ticket taker when the team moved to its new stadium downtown in 1988, filling in on weekday morning and afternoon games. She was 12th on the ushers’ seniority list when she retired in 2011.

Her husband of 38 years, Paul, a steelworker, died in 1986.

Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Flanders, Joan and Diane McParlane; two sons, Paul and Jack; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:15 a.m. Thursday in St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 1140 Abbott Road.
