NIAGARA FALLS – Lawrence J. Quigliano, a waterprooofing contractor who was active in the community, died Thursday in Mount St. Mary’s Hospital after a brief illness. He was 80.
A lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, Mr. Quigliano attended local schools, including the former Trott Vocational High School.
Mr. Quigliano began his career in the trucking industry, working for Spina Trucking Co. and Friona Brothers Trucking.
He later founded Quigliano Waterproofing, which he operated until the mid 1980s. Afterward, he worked alongside his son, Lawrence, in the family business, L.J. Quigliano II Inc., also a waterproofing contractor.
He was active in social and fraternal organizations, including Dante’s Social Club, Stadium Grill, the Judges and Police Executive Conference of Niagara County, LaSalle Sportsman Club, LaSalle Yacht Club and Sertoma Club. He also was a fourth degree member of Council 247, Knights of Columbus.
His wife of 57 years, the former Shirley S. Serrianni, died in 2013.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph A. and Lawrence J. II; six sisters, Annette McCormick, Lena Morningstar, Mary Kubas, Carrie Gibbons, Alice Elia, and Delores Mistriner; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary of the Cataract Catholic Church, 259 Fourth St., preceded by prayers at 9 in M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road.
