Murphy, Pfalzer set for USA Hockey Women's National Festival

Two local players are among the 95 who have been invited to the 2016 USA Hockey Women's National Festival.

Buffalo native Maureen Murphy, a forward who plays with Shattuck St. Mary's in Minnesota, and Emily Pfalzer, Getzville native and all-star defender with the Buffalo Beauts of  the NWHL, will participate in the camp Aug. 8-14 at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid.

The annual training session is used by USA Hockey to select various national teams including two 22-player rosters for series against Canada held Aug. 17-21 in Calgary -- an Under-18 Selectio team and an Under-22 Select Team.

Pfalzer, a graduate of Boston College, has been a member of the U.S. Women's National Team since 2014 playing in twice in the Four Nations Cup while winning gold at the IIHF Women's World Championships in 2015 and 2016.
