Mid-American Conference Media Day at Ford Field today

DETROIT - The University at Buffalo will find out how it’s viewed in the Mid-American Conference Thursday when the conference’s Media Day is held at Ford Field.

The MAC preseason poll will be released this morning. UB is coming off a 5-7 season.

The Buffalo News will have updates all day.

UB coach Lance Leipold will provide the latest on the Bulls’ quarterback situation. UB must replace career passing leader Joe Licata, who’s in training camp with the Cincinnati Bengals. Red-shirt freshman Tyree Jackson, a 6-foot-5 prize recruit from Detroit, and Grant Rohach, a senior transfer from Iowa State, are competing for the job.

Cornerback Boise Ross and running back Jordan Johnson, the Sweet Home graduate, will represent UB at the Media Day. Ross ranked fifth in the nation last year in passes defensed with 20.

Bowling Green, Western Michigan and Northern Illinois are the MAC powers entering the season.
