Man admits guilt in snowblower rage in Niagara Falls

Henri J. Alfiere, who beat up a 71-year-old Niagara Falls man in what appeared to be a case of snowblower rage, pleaded guilty to a felony Thursday.

Alfiere, 32, of Pine Avenue in the Falls, admitted to a reduced charge of attempted second-degree assault and was scheduled for sentencing Nov. 17.

Alfiere got out of his car and attacked the 71-year-old man who was blowing snow into an alley off Haeberle Avenue Jan. 13.

Alfiere was driving the wrong way down the one-way alley, police said, and apparently was startled by the flying snow.

He faces up to four years in prison when he is sentenced by Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III, but Alfiere has more legal troubles. He still faces a separate indictment charging him with a violent break-in at a home on West Rivershore Drive in the Falls Jan. 19.
