Dunkirk Fishing Pier reopens with improvements made

The Dunkirk Fishing Pier has reopened, the state Department of Environmental Conservation said Monday.

The pier, located in Dunkirk Harbor, was closed while improvements were made, the DEC said. Improvements include an upgraded design, repair work to ensure stability, reconstruction of the wooden fishing pier above the existing steel substructure, installation of railings and benches and aesthetic improvements.

According to the DEC, the pier offers fishing for trout, bass, panfish and walleye, and provides year-round fishing opportunities.
