Canisius kicker named MaxPreps Preseason All-American

Ohio State commit and All-Western New York first team kicker/punter Blake Haubeil of Canisius High School has been named to the MaxPreps Preseason All-American Team -- Medium Schools Offense.

Haubeil, the top-ranked scholastic kicker in the nation, booted the nation's second-longest field goal last season, a 61-yarder that ranks as a Canisius record, which proved to be the margin of victory for the Crusaders in a win over eventual state Class A champion South Park.

Haubeil, the only offensive player selected from New York state, converted 33 of 35 extra-point kicks last season, including the winning point in Canisius' 7-6 semifinal playoff win over St. Joe's in an extremely windy Ralph Wilson Stadium.

Haubeil, a senior, committed to Ohio State verbally nearly a year ago after participating in the school's marquee recruiting camp, Friday Night Lights.
