Three Amherst Lightning teams were among the eight Western New York teams that advanced in 16U bracket play Tuesday at the NSA Girls Fast Pitch World Series at Sunshine Park in West Seneca.
One 16U second-round game on Wednesday will pit the Amherst Lightning-Stone team against the Lackawanna Lightning. Amherst Lightning-Hejail, West Seneca Magic Orange, West Seneca Magic Blue, Western New York Sting, Amherst Lightning-DeCicco and Lancaster Heat also moved on in the winners’ bracket.
Another Amherst Lightning team has reached the third round of 10U play at Sunshine Park while another passed a first test in 12U bracket play with a 14-4 triumph over NB Wildcats at the same venue. In 14U play at Amherst Audubon, West Seneca Magic Orange moved to the second round with a 5-4 victory over Edge Chaos from Illinois and will face Evans Force on Wednesday. Two local teams, WNY Rally (2-0) and WNY Sting (1-0) advanced in the 18U bracket at Audubon.
Pool play in five age groups was completed Tuesday and bracket play began in 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U. Pool play in the 23U division will not get underway until Thursday at Audubon.
