Canisius men's basketball team to visit Kentucky in November

New Canisius College men's basketball coach Reggie Witherspoon will take his team on the road to the University of Kentucky in November.

The game on Nov. 13 at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky., is part of the first Bluegrass Showcase, which is scheduled to run Nov. 13-21. Canisius also will play a home game against Tennessee-Martin on Nov. 21 at the Koessler Athletic Center as part of the tournament.

Kentucky went 27-9 last season and lost three players to the NBA Draft - Jamal Murray, Tyler Ulis and Skal Labissiere. However, the Wildcats recruited four high school players rated among the top 20 in the nation and are expected to enter the 2016-17 in the top five in the national ranking.

Canisius announced two other non-conference games that also will be part of the Bluegrass Showcase. They are a visit to Cleveland State on Nov. 15 and a trip to Pittsburgh to play Duquesne on Nov. 18. The Griffs' full non-conference schedule has not yet been released.

The game against UT-Martin will be the first meeting between the schools. UT-Martin went 20-15 last season. Cleveland State went 9-23. Duquesne was 17-17.
