Poem of the Week: “people you may know” by Rachelle Toarmino

By Rachelle Toarmino

everywhere

people are looking at each other

through the wrong end of binoculars

it is so gaudy and gruesome

getting used

to someone again

there is the first moment

when you realize that someday

you will know this person

very intimately

and still it will feel

like returning to something

like you’re becoming

less specific
