Letter: Not voting for Clinton over lying is ridiculous

Not voting for Clinton over lying is ridiculous

In response to a recent letter from a frequent contributor to Everybody’s Column who says he is not voting for Hillary Clinton because she is a known liar, I would like to share the results of Politifact, an independent fact-checking organization.

Since Clinton and Donald Trump began campaigning, Politifact has fact-checked the two presumptive nominees 120 times and 158 times respectively. The results? Trump’s statements were rated “false” or “pants on fire” (outrageously, lyingly false) 78 percent of the time, while Clinton was rated as such 13 percent of the time.

Clinton’s statements were rated “True” or “mostly true” 53 percent of the time, while Trump’s “true” and “mostly true” score was a meager 8.8 percent.

So, the writer would recommend not voting for a liar, but instead intends to vote for someone who is a huge liar.
