Letter: We need to find better ways to live with our differences

We need to find better ways to live with our differences

I woke up to the news of the devastating ambush in Dallas where 12 police officers were shot and five were killed. So far this appears to be the result of one individual, now dead, over racial tension between police and African-Americans.

I am upset, sick, anxious and saddened. I do not see color – black, white, yellow, whatever. I see hatred. I see mental instability. I see a world that I’m afraid to have my grandchildren grow up in. I don’t know the answers. I have ideas.

Maybe bring back the facilities where our mentally unstable can be treated and comfortable without harm to others, better gun control, not allowing guns in the hands of those on the “do not fly” list, respect for one another and our differences and, of course, prayer sure wouldn’t hurt!

We have had and still have men and women fighting and dying for this country. Do we have to fight each other? We need to stand together and find a way to live in peace and harmony. Sounds simplistic? Maybe, maybe not. All I know is if we don’t try, what kind of world are we leaving to future generations?

Let there be peace on earth and in America, and let it began with me.
