LAMANCUSA, Carl P.

LAMANCUSA - Carl P. Of West Seneca, July 6, 2016, son of the late Frank and Rose Lamancusa; predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Arlene S. Lamancusa, and sister Mary Candido; survived by his daughter Carmen Advey (William Jr.); granddaughter Breana Advey; daughter Joy Tomlin; son Glenn Lamancusa and sister Betty Marchese. Carl enlisted in the Navy in 1940, serving on active duty until 1946, when his ship, the USS Wasp, was sunk, and he was honorably discharged. Carl remained in the Navy Reserves for another 29 years. In 1963, he was selected by a board in Washington D.C. to be promoted to Master Chief Engineer in the Navy. He retired from the Navy with 35 years of service. Carl was also a licensed Buffalo Chief Engineer and, in 1969, was appointed to the Buffalo Board of Education. He remained in this position until 1992, when he retired. Carl was a devoted Freemason, who served as Chaplin of the former Master Builder Lodge No. 911 for over 29 years, and also as Chaplin at West Seneca Lodge No. 1111. He also served as Master of West Seneca Lodge in 1978, and again in 1986, and was also West Seneca Lodge's historian. Carl was the recipient of both the Dedicated Service Award (2000) and the prestigious Wendell K. Walker Award (2013) for his exceptional lifetime dedication to the Freemasons. Carl was known for his wit, intelligence, and great love for his family. Donations in Carl's honor can be made to West Seneca Lodge No. 1111, 647 Main St., West Seneca, NY, 14224. A memorial service to celebrate Carl's life will be held at a future date.
