Instead of giving tax breaks, eliminate burdensome laws
I read with interest about the shortcomings of StartUp NY. I find it amusing that Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo thinks that by giving companies a 10-year tax relief that they’ll come running. If he wants new business in New York, he needs to look at the business climate from the state to towns. It’s not, “How can we help you succeed?” It’s, “How many hoops can we make you jump through?”
Let’s just take a quick look at litigation and the close eye you have to keep on lawyers, workers compensation, the Scaffold Law and others like it and oppressive taxes. Where else do they punish you for owning a home? I could go on, but you get it.
