Buffalo man sent to prison in forged credit card case

LOCKPORT – A Buffalo man who used a forged credit card to make $162 worth of purchases at a Home Depot in Batavia was sent to the state prison system’s secure drug treatment facility by Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon. Jose M. Cabrera, 42, of Schiller Street, serve 1½ to three years in a regular cell if he washes out of treatment.

Cabrera forged the card using personal information from an account holder at a Lockport credit union, which is why the case was prosecuted in Niagara County. Cabrera, a Cuban national, forged the card Sept. 27.
