Sister Dolores Neunder, who served as a dietician for many years at local Catholic hospitals, died July 5. She was 97.
Born in Buffalo, she joined the Sisters of St. Francis of the Third Order Regular of Buffalo in 1936 and pronounced her final vows as Sister Mary de Angelis on Aug. 20, 1942.
In 1942, she earned a bachelor’s degree in home economics from Marywood College in Scranton, Pa., then interned in clinical dietetics at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., becoming a registered dietician and a member of the American Dietetic Association.
For nearly 50 years, she was administrative and clinical dietician at Mount St. Mary’s Hospital in Niagara Falls and Lewiston and at St. Francis Hospital in Buffalo. She also taught nutrition and diet therapy in the Niagara University School of Nursing and, for several years was local minister of the convent at Mount St. Mary’s Hospital. She retired in 1991.
In recent years, she worked at the reception desk, arranged transportation and did prayer ministry at St. Mary of the Angels convent in Williamsville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the chapel of St. Mary of the Angels, 201 Reist St., Williamsville.
