A man who pleaded guilty to several criminal sexual acts in May was sentenced Tuesday to 15 years in prison.

In addition to the 15 years in prison, Ernesto Rodriguez Abreu, 54, will also be under post-release supervision for 12 years, said acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Flaherty Jr.

On May 13, Rodriguez Abreu pleaded guilty to first-degree course of sexual conduct and first-degree criminal sexual act. Rodriguez Abreu was sentenced by Erie County Court Judge Kenneth F. Case.

According to the District Attorney’s Office, Rodriguez Abreu engaged in at least two acts of sexual contact with a juvenile under age 13. Rodriguez Abreu also engaged in sexual conduct within the last year with a juvenile who was physically helpless because of the forced ingestion of drugs.

Buffalo Police Lieutenant Valerie Stover-Kelly investigated the case, Flaherty said.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Bethany A. Solek of Flaherty’s Special Victims Bureau.
