After a 5-year hiatus, the Buffalo Philharmonic returns to the Chestnut Ridge Park’s sledding hill for a free Saturday sunset concert featuring TV and movie music from Batman to Rocky, Downton Abbey and Game of Thrones.
“We’re thrilled to have them coming back again,” said Bill Even, administrative advisor for the Chestnut Ridge Conservancy, which is hosting the event.
Organizers expect crowds with lawn chairs and picnics to swell above 5,000 for the concert from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday with good views of Lake Erie in the distance.
“Enjoy a wonderful evening and a beautiful sunset,” said Even.
If it rains, the concert will be held Sunday. Check chestnutridgeconservancy.org for details.
The Conservancy also sets up a movie screen for showings at the sledding hill by the casino.
On Sunday, July 24 at dusk at 9:15 p.m., it’s the animated movie “The Incredibles.” Sunday, Aug. 19 when the sun sets a little earlier, Disney’s “Cars” starts at 8:15 p.m.
“You watch the sunset on the water,” Even said. “It’s wonderful.”
