Cheektowaga police beginning foot patrols

Cheektowaga

Foot patrols have started in four Cheektowaga neighborhoods this summer.

Cheektowaga police officers will be on foot and bike in the Walden Avenue-city line area, Genesee Street-city line area, Town Park area and the Cedargrove area through Halloween.

The 22nd season of foot patrol activity in the town is funded by a $33,000 in Community Block Grant funding through the Town of Cheektowaga Office of Economic and Community Development.

“Foot patrols try to improve police-citizen contact through interaction,” said Captain Michael Sliwinski in a statement. “They address quality of life issues, such as illegal parking and loud music.”

This week in Cheektowaga:

• The Town Board meets for a work session at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Town Hall, 3301 Broadway.
