Amherst man charged with manslaughter, DWI in fatal crash on Delaware Avenue S-curves

An Amherst man has been charged with drunken driving and vehicular manslaughter in a deadly crash along Delaware Avenue’s S-curves early Friday, Buffalo police announced.

Dennis Xenos, 24, also is charged with vehicular assault. A passenger died from injuries in the crash about 3:20 a.m. on the S-curves at Nottingham Terrace, and at least one person was ejected, according to Buffalo police.

Police said Xenos was driving a 2008 Infinity south on Delaware when he lost control and knocked down a lightpole and crashed into a tree. An unidentified 24-year-old Town of Tonawanda man died of his injuries in Erie County Medical Center. A 21-year-old Buffalo woman, also unidentified, is listed in serious condition in ECMC. Both were backseat passengers in the vehicle, according to police.

A Clarence woman also in the vehicle was not injured.
