Joseph V. Doino, retired Buffalo firefighter

Feb. 25, 1935 – June 1, 2016

Joseph Victor Doino, a retired Buffalo firefighter, died June 1 in his West Seneca home after a lengthy illness. He was 81.

Born in Buffalo, he was a graduate of Bennett High School and Erie County Technical Institute. He served in the Army Reserve.

Mr. Doino joined the Buffalo Fire Department in 1960 and served primarily with Engine 33. He received the Public Safety Award in 1979 and was a trustee of Buffalo Professional Firefighters Local 282. He was particularly fond of working jointly with the Elks on their annual outing with children with disabilities at Crystal Beach Amusement Park.

After he retired in 1981, he moved to Pompano Beach, Fla., where he worked in real estate sales, then lived for several years in Arab, Ala. He returned to the Buffalo area in 2010.

Survivors include a son, Joseph E.; a brother, Donald; and a granddaughter.

A memorial Mass will be offered at 10:30 a.m. next Saturday in the Mercy Center, 625 Abbott Road.
