St. Joe’s high school wants to demolish building across the street

St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute wants to demolish a former insurance agency office across Kenmore Avenue from the school, although it doesn’t have specific plans yet for the site.

The Town of Tonawanda high school is seeking Buffalo Preservation Board approval Thursday afternoon to demolish a building at 810 Kenmore Ave., formerly home to Cassetta Agency Inc. The insurance agency moved to the Village of Kenmore in May, occupying the former Dengler Roberts Perna Funeral Home.

St. Joe’s spokewoman Suzanne Badgley said the school acquired the building “through a gift from a benefactor,” but has not determined how it will use the property. She said it plans “to conduct a long-term facilities study prior to making any decisions.”
