By the time the Buffalo Bisons managed their first hit against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders Wednesday night they were already trailing by nine runs.
The RailRiders, who swept a four-game series against the Herd at Coca-Cola Field last week, continued the dominance with a 10-0 victory at PNC Field in Moosic, Pa. It ended the Bisons’ nine-game road winning streak. Also, it was the RailRiders’ seventh straight win over Buffalo. In those seven games, Scranton has outscored the Herd, 39-11, and led nearly the entire way.
Anderson shelled: Bisons starter John Anderson, who was effective in a loss to the RailRiders last Friday, couldn’t get out of the third inning before yielding five more runs. Solo homers by Tyler Austin and Cesar Puello started it. After Anderson hit the next batter, a walk, a single and a two-run double by Donovan Solano finished the Bisons lefty. Bobby Korecky had to come in to get the third out.
Here come da Judge: Monster outfielder Aaron Judge doubled home the first Scranton run in the first. The RailRiders pulled off a double-steal before Donovan Solano singled home a run in the second.
Bombs away: The RailRiders increased the lead to 9-0 on Jake Cave’s two-run blast in the fourth.
Breaking the ice: The Bisons’ first hit against former Central Michigan University lefty Dietrich Enns did not come until Domonic Brown singled in the fifth inning.
What’s next: The Bisons have not designated a starter for Thursday night’s finale of the two-game series against the RailRiders (Radio 1520, 7:05 p.m.). Right-hander Diego Moreno (4-1, 2.50) will go for the home team.
