A private celebration of life ceremony was held Sunday for Eugene C. David of Lackawanna, a retired chiropractor and physical therapist who died June 26 while under Hospice care in Mercy Hospital. He was 88.
Born in Buffalo, he served stateside in the Army during World War II. In 1949, Mr. David completed studies at the Palmer College of Chiropractic, Port Orange, Fla. He went on to earn his bachelor of science degree in physical therapy from the University of Buffalo in 1958. Mr. David operated a private practice as a chiropractor and physical therapist for 50 years before his retirement in 1999. He also was employed as a clinical instructor and director of physical therapy at the Rosa Coplon Home from 1961 to 1985.
Mr. David received his chiropractor’s license in the early 1970s, making him one of the first licensed chiropractors in New York State.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Lois Trautman; three sons, Peter, Michael and Alex; four daughters, Mary Beth Urbina, Gina Briggs, Ramona Estrada and Lois A.; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
