Canisius hockey adds seven to roster

Canisius rounded out its hockey recruiting class Wednesday with the addition of seven players - two forwards, two defensemen and three goaltenders. They join two early signees from last November.

The new recruits are: forwards Casey Jerry (River Falls, Wis.) and Jesse Pereira (Fort Erie, Ont.), defenseman Dan Fritz (Annapolis, Md.) and Matt Stief (Weston, Fla.) and goalies Daniel Urbani (Coquitlam, B.C.), Blake Weyrick (Los Angeles) and Charles Williams (Canton, Mich.).

Forwards Matt Hoover and Nick Hutchison signed last fall.

Weyrick, a former member of the U.S. National Team Development Program and a graduate of Shattuck-St. Mary’s School in Minnesota, played the last two seasons for the Janesville (Wis.) Jets of the North American Hockey League, posting a 2.46 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage.
