A 22-year-old Schauf Avenue man was arrested Monday while allegedly robbing and beating a woman at gunpoint in a corner yard at Chelsea Place and East Delavan Avenue.
Travante Johnson was arrested by police officers called to the scene by residents about 9:50 p.m. The victim told officers Johnson had forced her into the yard at gunpoint, choked and punched her and took two $20 bills that officers reported recovering from Johnson’s pants pocket.
A 22-caliber handgun was reportedly recovered in Johnson’s pickup truck. He was charged with first-degree criminal use of a firearm, third-degree robbery, second and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, criminal obstruction of breathing and second-degree menacing.
