In the end, it was a 911 call from the men’s room that ended Robert Wyche’s robbery attempt.
On the other end of that call was Wyche’s victim, a man he had confronted inside a Cheektowaga hotel room a few minutes earlier, brandishing a gun and demanding cash.
Prosecutor Timothy J. Garvin says the man was sharing the room with a woman he had met at a nearby strip club when Wyche and two other women broke into the room.
When Wyche, a Rochester resident, decided the man didn’t have enough cash, he took him to a convenience store at Genesee Street and Transit Road and ordered him to withdraw money from the ATM inside.
At some point while inside the store, the man escaped into the men’s room and called police. Authorities later found the victim’s car in a nearby supermarket parking lot, where Wyche and the three women were arrested.
Wyche pleaded guilty to robbery Tuesday and will face seven years in prison when he is sentenced by State Supreme Court Justice Russell P. Buscaglia.
