Summer camp with a twist in Lackawanna

This week in Lackawanna

Children ages 7 to 13 may enroll in the summer enrichment program that runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays at Global Concepts Elementary Charter School, 1001 Ridge Road.

Class offerings include cooking classes, international studies, fine arts and sports and recreation. Field trip Thursdays offers students a chance to learn in natural settings.

Literacy and math mania camps help to make learning fun. Attention will be paid to workshops focused on math and English as a Second Language.

Program starts Tuesday.

Free breakfast and lunch will be provided. Transportation will not.

Call the Youth Board at 827.6456 to enroll.

The program is sponsored by the Erie County Youth Bureau, Lackawanna Youth Bureau, Access of WNY and the Lackawanna Community Garden.

• A Planning and Development Board meeting set for 5:30 p.m. July 13 in City Hall Council Chambers will consider two projects:

1. The redevelopment at 155 Commerce Drive to two land parcels owned by Iroquois Bar Corp. The concrete company plans to expand its current facility for parking and storage of heavy equipment, said Fred K. Heinle, director of development.

2. The proposed construction of a 4,500 square foot building by Nicholas Costa on Albright Court to store 50 school buses. The purchase of a 3.5-acre land parcel on Albright is pending approval by City Council, said Heinle.
