Buffalo woman reports rape after finishing drink with ‘funny taste’

Buffalo police are investigating the rape of a city woman after she reported waking up in an abandoned building early Saturday with no pants, and no recollection of how she got there.

The victim told police she was sitting on the porch of a friend’s house on Crowley Avenue about 9:45 p.m. Friday when an unknown man pulled up and sat with her. He said he was a longtime friend of the victim’s friend.

The victim left the porch for a short time, and when she returned to finish her drink, she said it had a “funny taste,” according to police reports. She finished the drink and accepted a ride with the man, who said he would drive her home. She told police she remembers nothing after that, until she woke up.

Police said she woke up at 12:47 a.m. Saturday in an abandoned building on Richmond Avenue near a church without her pants on, and with pain in her lower abdomen.

Police described the suspect as a dark-skinned black male with short dark hair, approximately 35 years old, who said his name is Chris,
