Falls police probe possible poisoning of Labrador retriever

NIAGARA FALLS – Niagara Falls police are investigating the possible poisoning of a chocolate Labrador retriever that had to be euthanized after it became ill Thursday.

The 5-year-old dog, owned by a Lindbergh Avenue woman, was evaluated by a local veterinarian, police said. A neighborhood resident reported seeing an older-model, black Toyota sport utility vehicle in the area of the home when the dog became ill. The resident, police said, said the driver of the SUV, described only as a heavyset white male, walked into the backyard where the dog was tied.
