Leonard J. Mruk, retired medical liability investigator

Leonard J. Mruk, of Elma died June 27 in Amherst. He was 93.

Born in Buffalo, he graduated from Canisius High School and continued his education at Canisius College.

Mr. Mruk joined the military in 1941 and was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II as well as the Korean War, during which time he rose to the rank of major.

He worked as an intelligence agent for the CIA from 1952 to 1974. Following that, he was an investigator for medical liability for various attorneys’ offices throughout his career.

He was a member of the Knights of St. John, St. Barnabas Holy Name Society and St. Martha Senior Citizens.

Mr. Mruk was predeceased by his wife, the former Lucy Szczepanski. Survivors include three sons, Lawrence, John and Mark; two daughters, Catherine Ullom and Mary Lou Voytovich; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 5271 Clinton St., Elma.
